Default Maintenance Required Light came on

So here's my delima... My Maintenance Required light would flash when I turned the car on, but then go off after a few seconds. Anyways, there was a little noise coming from the transmission case, I take it to Firestone, they do a complete inspection, and say that there isn't anything wrong from what they have seen, but that they don't know much about transmissions... So I took it into the dealership, and they told me that the bearings were rusted... so they replaced them and pretty much rebuilt the transmission. While rebuilding it, the mechanic knicked one of my gears, so they replaced that as well... They also told me I needed to replace the differential fluid, so I had that done as well...

So, I get the car back from the dealership 3 weeks later (they told me it would take 2-3 days), and my Maintenance Required light would still blink when I turned the car on, and then go off... a couple of days later, the maintenance light would come on and stay on when I turned the car on... ...so, I'm like, wtf?!?! so, I take it in to Firestone and get the oil changed, they told me I was a little low on oil, but everything is good...

My light is still on... I'm wondering what the deal is, I've heard that sometimes you have to reset the light, how do you do that? is there any chance it was from needing an oil change? or from the differential or transmission? if so, why would it just blink, and then go solid a few days after I get those done??? any advice?

does that tell how to reset it? I just found the "secret compartment" the other day, and found out that the owner's manual was in there... so I haven't looked at it yet... I guess I'll have to do it

The flashing light has nothing to do with the dealer rebuilding your trans. since they didn't do a service they would not have reset it.

Maintenance required light info is in the FAQ, and your owners manual.
