All,

Just wanted to update everybody -

The MIL on my dashboard is now gone off. The probably reason was low engine oil level (due to which there may have been some pressure loss).

Also, the light went off after exactly 3 cycles of warm up and cool down. Initially I had posted that the light did not go off after 3 cycles. That was a mistake on my part. I just realized that I did not top off the engine oil till after my first ride.

Today morning I went for another ride (3rd after the oil change) and after that the light is gone.

Just in time for the weekend.

Thanks!

How much did it take to top it up? Unless you were down over 3 qts, the CEL won't come on. I would suggest that you had some sort of temporary code. Some things that can cause this would be loose gas cap or an intermittent misfire. I highly doubt it was due to you being down a qt of oil.

A loose gas cap can take several miles of driving before the light goes off. A trip around the block won't do it.

I agree with Xv....low oil was not your problem.

go buy a cheap code reader...even though the dealer may wind up with the car, if you know the code, the can't BS you and you'll get the warr work you deserve.

I guess I will swing by the local Autozone over the weekend and see if they can pull the code for free. If not then I will buy a reader.

In any case, I will post the code here on Monday.

Thanks!
