Mechanical Over-rev
Hi everyone, well as the title states I had a very amateur mistake (I'm pretty butthurt about it) and missed my 3rd to 4th shift in my AP1 and put the car into 2nd gear while redlining 3rd. I pressed the clutch the second I noticed the rev but it was too late. driving home (approx. 1 mile from my home after it happened) the car rode fine, not until parking the car I noticed it was misfiring quite apparently. after doing some research on here I heard about the retainer issues after a mechanical over-rev and figured the problem must be in the head. I invited a mechanic buddy over to run a compression and leak down test and we found that cylinder 1 was leaking exhaust and cylinder 4 was leaking exhaust and intake.
We haven't yet removed the head as we wanted to be sure what to do first. I know there are some experienced people on here that would do the work for a fee and I would much rather trust one of you guys over a local machine shop.
Any input on the matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sounds like you bent some valves, the retainers are a non-issue in this case as the head will need to come off and at a minimum valves will need replaced. You will just swap retainers then.
Where are you located? There are a couple guys that come to mind for this type of work.

I guess Wadzii is closest, but he's in NC. If you can remove the head & ship it, then Billman, Jordanskartell, and Wadzii are all good options. I have no idea who would be local down there for you though. You may post in your regional forum.
Not if you just bent a few valves. You don't really know what your getting with a used head and valves are not all that difficult/expensive to replace. I would find someone who can pull the head and take a look at things. Try your local section and see who is nearby
