Default Mechanical Over-Revved '05 S2000

Yesterday I over-revved my '05 s w/ 23,000mi going 77MPH mis-shifting from 3rd gear in to 2nd on accident while merging on to a freeway.

Well it wasn't that bad of a over-rev in my opinion the RPMs had dropped some from holding the clutch pedal during the shift and the engine was braking pretty hard and I am pretty sure the clutch never fully engaged.

Anyways, this was my 3rd over-rev in this car. Twice when I was first learning to drive it maybe 8,000 miles back then this last time which was just sheer stupidity.

So I took it to my local Honda specialist to have the valve train looked at:

Labor: Remove and install valve cover, rams, rocker shafts and inspect for damage to retainers or springs- 2.5hrs @ $85/hr.

No damage found.

So a sort of expensive lesson learned for me. Anyways, I am just posting this because this was the sort of information that I was looking for prior to taking it to the shop and I think it may help some people who have been in the same situation with me.

The current wisdom here seem to be that on AP2 valvetrains, it either breaks immediately or you are good to go. They don't do the break-10,000-miles-later thing that the AP1s do.
