I vaguely remember some talk about this at last years WTD. Seems to be somewhat common. Although I dont know why Honda would take a chance at something like this floating around in the diff. Maybe someone will chime in.

mileage and fluid used on above pic?

NO WORRIES

I commonly find those on the drain plug. It is one ear off one of the friction plates, and will have no adverse affect on the dif.

If you find more than 1 or 2 (im thinking 4 in reality), the dif MIGHT not engage correctly in corners and you will not get shared-wheel traction.

Give you another tip...you can order a second magnetic drain plug, and use it in the fill hole and run dual magnets.

Also negates the need for the odd 23mm wrench for the fill plug.

If something breaks, something is not right.
Could be overload, bad design, part defect due to production error.
(what else?, honest question)

The diff and how it does its job is IMO one of THE important parts on / in the S2000.
Chassis (= handeling), engine (= 9k), driveline (= click-clack shifting and Torsen diff) - all on #1 position - those 3 make the S2000 what it is.. right?

I don't want to mess with any of them.
If parts start to fail you should ask yourself "Why?" and find out what you have to change to stop making them fail.

In this case I would start with (yeah.. you could have seen this coming) diff OIL.
Stop using 75W-90 diff water.
