Default Metallic Ringing... Different Symptoms Than Clutch Problem

I ran several searches on the board to try and diagnose my "ringing, rattling, or metallic vibration" (whatever you want to call it)

I have checked every possible bolt under my car... checked all heat shields, etc...

I performed absolutely no mechanical modifications leading up to noise...

I have 8500 miles, MT '00:

At 3000 - 3700 during light acceleration, constant revs, or light deceleration I get a "metallic ringing" like a heat shield "buzzing"...

Any ideas? a bit different than the clutch TB

I had the ringing (~7K and up) and finally figured it out.. Removing the black heatshield (which was not the problem) enabled me to see all of the Mugen header heatshield and there it was(

cdelena,

You hit the nail right on the head... excellent call: missing center bolt. I put another there and the sound is gone.

Thank you!

I just started getting this sound a few minutes after a brisk run through the open part of Glendora Mountain... there were some harsh bumps, and my car is lowered conservatively at less than 1 inch.

I only get it when revving past 7k, how could it be just a missing center bold on the heat shield?

I was under the impression that the full power ringing is just the "VTEC ring." Harmonics in the engine give off a ringing in the upper rpm ranges. I think it is the HONDA way to say adios or AMF.

I have a metallic ring coming from my car as well...can't figure out where it's coming from. I know the sound starts at or about 5000 RPM...this was after I put my Vortech Supercharger on. I think it's just something lose...since my motor hasn't blowen up yet.
