There is really no such thing as "Honda Oil" other than the fact that Honda NA has oil supplied (apparently from Mobil) and put in to quart bottles with a Honda label and part number. No, it is not synthetic. In fact, dealers don't use this product for your oil change, they use oil in bulk from a 55 gallon barrel.

My Honda dealer doesn't even offer a synthetic oil change. If you want synthetic, you have to bring your own.

Correct thats why I said I never used syn

And yes I am aware honda doesn't produce their own oil , always bought it at the dealer and came in a grey bottle packaged for Honda, used their trans fluid (which they also dont produce ) but it worked great

from what i know being a tech at honda is that the "honda oil" is mobile 1 oil, but is a blend. my dealership doesnt carry bulk 10w-30 so we use the bottles for those-never use the bulk oil at a shop that stuff is nasty

Rain H8R - hahaha, like I said, I feel like a newb!

Do you think I would feel any differance if I switched to synthetic oil? Other then lasting longer would I feel an increase in HP and Torque as say Royal Purple or Red Line oil claim? I just don't see the benefit for spending $10 per quart when this Mobil oil works good...

Any thoughts?

A lot of the techs/engine builders I know dont recomend switching to synthetic if you have been using conventional oil for extend periods of time (they say its bad for gromments, gasket, and seals and can lead to premature cracking and failing of those parts). I would recomend switching after the first few oil changes or not at all, but lots of people will give different opinions on this subject.

Good luck

i'm not any expert or whatever but my understanding is that the only difference between synthetic and natural oil is that synthetic oil tends to take a longer time to break down than dino oil which is why it is preferred by some people to increase the interval between oil changes. <<then again my personal opinion is that you should still change oil every 5000 or so miles because even if you're sporting synthetic oil that can last you till 7500 miles, you have to ask yourself, can my oil filter last 75000 miles as well?

anyway, i use mobil clean 5000, i used the synthetic version in my previous S, i saw no difference. i think as long as you're using the correct/appropriate oil weight then you'd be fine.

again with the disclaimer: i'm not an expert, i'm just regurgitating past knowledge i got from reading what people have said in the forums.

at my dealer ship i think we use castrol, but we do sell a mobil 1 oil change at a high price, personally at my work the s2k oil change is the highest of all cars so may as well go synthetic
