I've installed a K&N filter on my S and I have no complaints.
Prior to the install, I felt the opening of the air box with my hand. Only with the throttle open did I feel a suction. However with the K&N in place there is a constant strong suction (that's how much more air the K&N flows over the stock paper filter).
To improve on the amount of air avaliable and to stop turbulance I have dremeled out the inside wall and pluged the silencer opening, with these modification the box resonates a powerfull intake note. The performance is definetly noticable, especially at highway speeds.
My next upgrade is going to be the Spoon cold air duct. I will post pics as soon as its in.
For now here are pics of the box and the K&N.
