Default Modified Stock Intake Box

Guys I just purchased my AP2 recently. Looks like one of the previous owners modified the stock air box. They cut out the dividers (which I was planning on doing anyway), but what concerned me was 2 circular cut outs on the base of the air box (directly in front of the radiator fans)

Should I seal the holes or leave them open?

with the stock air filter I would seal them up to keep moisture away from the filter. If it was my car I'd try to buy a used intake box, lots of them around on the used parts forum. That is terrible idea in my opinion, unless you could run some cold air piping to the box from the bumper area. I wouldn't keep it like that.

K&N filter is currently being used.

Do you know what the going rate for a stock air box is by any chance?

Just slap some fiberglass patches on that. Nobody can see them.

those holes suck hot air right in. the factory airbox was designed to direct air flow down and out thru the small slits in the under body panel
