nah the MY04+ block has been updated. Almost none of the 04+ blocks burn any oil.

The biggest contribuition to poor mileage is from your right foot. Try the experiment of driving gently for a tank and see if mileage improves. Also, be sure that you are accurately calculating mileage. Fill the tank and then run until it is around 1/8-1/4. Refill the tank and divide gallons used by miles driven. If you can accelerate smoothly and gently and avoid VTEC for an entire tank, I bet you'll see higher mileage.

I consistently get about 24 mpg with mixed highway and surface street use, so you're not too far from that. When used on the track, I was seeing 9-13 mpg.

I'm ready for a little of that!

Thanks for the replies - I will ease off it a little bit and see where things go. So far no oil consumption for me either...

yeah, just got my 05 and put on 1300 miles on it.
Here are my results.
semi aggressive driving mixed highway/city 20mpg
semi aggressive city only 18mpg

non aggressive city 24mpg
all highway cruising 65mph gotten up to 33mpg (the trick to this is cruise control all the way).

just enjoy,

13 mpg on the track? Yikes. I always get less than 10. I do run with the top down most of the time, though.

Don't worry, you didn't get a CVT automatic either.
