I have a VAFC installed, but when I started to get the CEL problems, I set everything back to default. Also have AEM CAI which I don't think would mess the ECU.

Are you able to get yourself an 02 or 03 ECU replacement for the better management upgrade? You'd probably need to retune the VAFC after that though.

Out of curiosity, how much is a new ECU? The reason I ask is because if my CEL problems come back, I'd love an option other than replacing the injectors (~$500ish for a set of injectors and installation)

It's good to hear HardTopGuy's tech determined your problem. Your car will finally pass MD's emission inspection. I hope you get it back soon, the way the weather has been this week.
