I got tired of checking to see if I had to push my dipstick in in the morning before going to work so I decided to "fix it."
I need to know if this will cause any problems down the road. I checked to see if my PCV valve is working and it was. I even gave it a quick blast of brake cleaner to make sure it was clean.
The spring is from a box of carb. springs I had left over for my 240z from AutoZone. The hole in the dipstick is very small.
Hmmm why is the dipstick popping up? When I have seen this in the past on other cars there is severe crankcase pressure build up due to a damaged piston...
I don't think my car has any problems at all. I make great power and I have NEVER burned oil. I am always right at the H.
I just did this because I was tired of checking to see if it was up or down. I don't want any dust or heaven forbid sand to get in there. Trust me, I'm anal.
Now I have peace of mind, and for only what... 3 mins of my time and maybe 30 cents for the spring.
After hard driving, mine used to pop-up all the time (NA and FI) even when the dipstick was turned 180 degrees. Adding Krank vents helped solve this issue.
