Default is my vtec broke ?

I was racing and Audi S4 the other day and I moved over into the left lane to let him get passed me , while doing this I dropped the car down into 3rd gear and floored it ...

not looking at the rev counter I watched him slowly go past while I still had my foot hard to the floor . then all of sudden I noticed a huge drop in power , I then looked at my rev counter an realized I was redlining my car in 3rd ... A rookie mistake I know

I know a vtec is not a turbo or anything close to it , but what I do know is that is make a significant louder noise and a bit more boost at about 7000 rpm . the car does no longer do this .

do you think I have broken my vtec , if so what is the cost to get it fixed ????

thanks ppl

Not sure if troll post, but check your oil level. vtec won't cross over it it's too low.

If VTEC isn't engaging, it could be the solenoid itself, which isn't too expensive. You could try cleaning it, or replacing it entirely. I've found some for around $100, so <£70 for you.

You said you were redlining in 3rd, maybe you hit the cars revlimiter which cuts fuel to the motor so you dont overev the motor.
