Default Need advice on service intervals

To anyone, I ask for help on service intervals.

As you know, many of us typically do not drive our "S" a lot during the winter months. For that reason, during a a four-month interval, we could drive the car 1000 or 2000 KMS. For example, I had my car serviced once in September at 8000 KMS. It is now February, almost March, and I have only 10000 KMS on it. It was in the garage for most of January and February.

My question is: Should I go for my next service now even with only 10K on it or should I wait for 15 or 16 K. When I go, should I ask for the second service type or the third service type, I.e. basically skip the second service and go to the third one right away, which I believe is more maintenance. Take not all mileages are in kilometers and not miles (hence, the bigger numbers). FYI, 8000 kilometers is approx. 5000 miles.

Thanks for any help.

Your manual states "Time or Mileage" WHICHEVER COMES FIRST!
So, you need to go by time and do all the stuff that is listed under that time interval regardless of what KMs you have on the car.

It appears that you're looking at your owner's manual, and trying to follow it to the letter. That's great, but you might want to thumb through old posts on particular maintenance issues to see what's being said about them. Here are my opinions:
  • If you're using a good synthetic motor oil, then you can wait at least 6 months. Some people will recommend up to a year or 5000 km. If you're using conventional oil and you're doing a fair amount of short trips, then I'd change it sometime in the next month.
  • It's a good idea to go ahead and change your tranny and differential fluid now. If you don't see much VTEC, you can wait a while but I wouldn't use the owner's manual as gospel. These fluids can get ugly pretty quickly with aggressive driving.
  • Everything else - mostly inspections - can be done at recommended intervals. You can do these yourelf.

The manual is but a "guide". With 10K on your car, a change of diff and tranny fluid would be a good idea (moreso the diff).
Oh and sure that your dealer knows about this:

Or go with Mobil 1 synthetic 75W90 gear oil. If they put the wrong stuff in, they'll be buying you a new diff fairly soon after.
