Ok I got the money here right now.

I was set on the comptech. I know everyone will tell me to go look at the huge thread on vortech vs comptech. Here is my conundrum.

- aftercooler on comptech seems smaller vortech seems larger
- cosmetically they both are nice but comptech has the cf aif box
- the vortech utilizes a BOV the comptech doesnt (someone give me more info on the sound of this BOV, doesnt sound like the regular pss you would from a turbo set up correct?)
- i cant remember which system taps the oil, doesnt the comptech have a separate oil system? i could be wrong
- seems like others like evolution guys and a few others have vortechs WHY? why not comptech?
- seems like more have able to use nitrous with the vortech
- do both come with a heat extractor?
- either come with a FMIC?
- price wise? reliability?

thanks guys let the collective criticism begin

PS: I want to make my choice by august 31st.

Oh jeez.

I say that because from your questions it is very clear that you arnt fully familiar with the car, or the blower. (FMIC question).

THeres a sticky, comptech vs vortech, read it top to bottom. Go to the comptechusa website and look at the info. There is a WEALTH of info on this subject, and its not exactly hiding.

for the comptech kit, the oil from the supercharger goes right to where the drain plug is. i went with the comptech kit because comptech is strictly Honda/Acura and i just like the way the kit looks better especially with the pics of the after coolers i seen. this kit has been out longer and of what i have read the reliability has been great. that is why i went with Comptech

BOV sounds good -- just like turbo, but not too loud. You can make it louder by using a different BOV or maybe removing the air filter.

Vortech has:
- FMU
- Fuel Pump Upgrade
- No Core charge for crank pulley
- Vortech timing controller box
- Aftercooler with BOV
- More hassel for install
- More weight
- stock for stock -- more power
- more safety margin (aftercooler and timing controller)

You see I understand the aftercooler but wouldnt an air to air fmic be more efficient?

This thread wasnt made for hating. More for helping. I appreciate the responses from the other individuals.

RCR:
What else can you tell me about the vortech that will make me choose that over the comptech?

02spas2k:
Valid points indeed, however after looking at the pics I find the comptech aftercooler to appear smaller is this the case?

Is it possible by right if the comptech and vortech are similar then would one be able to fabricate the comptech aftercooler with a BOV?

Im hearing about noises coming from the fuel pump supplied with the comptech, true or false?

What about 4th piston problems? Shouldnt happen pending that one doesnt increase the psi by changing the pulley right?

Comptech has an S2000, that they sponsor, with the prototype aftercooler, 11 psi pulley, blow off valve AND NOS. Is this what you want?

to me they look about the same size. the comptech seems to sit more on an angle and the vortech sits more flat.

im sure you can work a BOV with the comptech kit

Im hearing about noises coming from the fuel pump supplied with the comptech, true or false?
true, but i only hear the fuel pump when i turn the key all the way before turning the car on. after the car is turned on, all you are a nice loud whistle that the charger gives off

What about 4th piston problems? Shouldnt happen pending that one doesnt increase the psi by changing the pulley right?
i thought that that was a problem with just miss shifts

Ozy just posted some interesting comments regarding the Comptech vs. Vortech debate in a separate thread:

Definitely worth a read if you haven't seen it already.
