Need help Cel 1457
Hi All,
I am looking for some help and I think I have read all the threads regarding 1457.
There is a TSB for this cel # and the solution is to replace the EVAP Bypass Solenoid Valve and / or the ECU.
The valve part number stated on the TSB is 17012-S01-A00 and I called my Honda dealer and he said that this part number is for a civic.
I was wondering if anyone else had replaced the valve and could tell me the correct part number to order.
I tried the quick fix mentioned by Billman and it seems like the CEL is still coming back. Also, the connectors had no corrosion on them.
Thanks for all your help.
Eddy

You do not need a VIN to order the part.
If you want to do the work yourself, and do not want to go through the steps in the TSB then throw a valve on it.
Call any Honda dealerships parts department and order an EVAP bypass valve for whatever year s2000 you have.
It is not very hard to get to under the vehicle. Just throw it on and clear your DTC.
You will need to drive it for awhile to let the EVAP monitor run itself and confirm correction.
good luck

This is the same code that sets when a gas cap is left loose or seal is cracked. so check for that first.

You can replace the solenoid if you want to, but I wouldn't count on it fixing the car.
This DTC can be caused by a leak anywhere on the canister side of the EVAP system, or a problem with several different solenoids/valves.
Find a shop and have them diagnose the car. Don't buy parts to throw at the car and hope that it fixes itself.
