It's normal for it to read -40 when unplugged. As for the 170, that does seem a bit high. It will be getting some heat from the engine, but I wouldn't imagine that much.

Are you having any drive-ability concerns?

OK i figured it out today, But yes the car has been low on power which is why i started to diagnose it. It turns out that my aftercooler coolant wasnt flowing properly and it was getting too hot. It had an air pocket keeping it from flowing! runs better now though

The car has noticeably more power now. Does the computer adjust the timing or something when the iats are that high like mine were? it was running "good", as in smooth, no missing or hesitaion, just seemed weaker.. Now that the iats are way lower, under 100 with the supercharger and everyhthing, its running way better..

Warmer air is less dense. Since the ecm saw this "less dense" air, it dumped less fuel than it should have.

How do u find out what the temperature is?? I just installed a k&n Fipk intake without drilling a hole for the sensor. Instead, I put the sensor on the other hole where you suppose to cover it..
