Your lucky it sounds exhaust related, lose the damn cat anyway and bump performance up! (p.s. i wouldnt drive it 3 hours in that condition just in case, but being that it sounds exhaust related i dont think anything catastrophic would happen.)

definitely sounds like broken cat media, you should replace that ASAP because once that cat media breaks lose (hopefully it hasnt already) it will knock the O2 sensor tip clean off and you will be stuck with a heavier bill!

I would remove the o2 from the cat immediately and inspect it. If its not broken, add a spark plug spacer or it will be broken in days.

Thanks everyone...Confirmed, cat is toast...

Question...The dealer is willing to pay for the Cats and I pay for the labor...They are located 3 hours away so this is the compromise...Are there any reccomended cats that improve performance a bit that are similarly priced to OEM? They are willing to buy whatever I suggest provided it's OEM pricing or better.

Thanks

A warranty job is a warranty job. Why should you pay anything? its a 1/2 hr job, make them pay the labor.

OEM cat is big money. of course they would buy an aftermarket. oem is probably 4 times the cost.

get a Berk HFC if they charge less then cost of the part for labor then that sounds like a good deal to me. If they want more in labor then the part cost buy the HFC yourself and put it on in your driveway.
