Need help to put out engine warning light
I have an S2000 that had a frontal collision. In front of the left hand front wheel there is a device with hose going to the inlet manifold. This was destroyed and so I removed it and blocked the hole in the manifold. The car has been running fine without it but the engine warning light remains on. Can I put a resistor or something between the wires that went to this unit to trick the ECU into thinking that it is there, or should I reinstate it because it actually does something useful.
Im pretty sure your talking about the emissions air pump that is in the driver side of the front bumper. It will give you a CEL, and sorry to say, there is no resistor or any way to fix it unless you get a new pump. The only other way is if you have a full EMS. So if you want that CEL gone, you have to get a new air pump. There was a kit for this to get rid of the pump and not have a CEL but it failed. Nobody has beat this pump yet. Post in the Want to Buy section, there are always people with parts like this. I had to replace mine already also. Should cost around $100 for a used pump off of here.
