Default Need some suggestions on my tranny problem...

For some reason after Honda Gillman put in a new clutch disk, I can't shift into 1st or reverse without applying a lot of force on the shift nob.

I took the car back, and they replaced the flywheel and clutch plate to try to fix the problem. But, it's still the same...I can't get into 1st or reverse without a lot of force on the shift nob.

Anyone know what could be the problem? I want to make some suggestions to Honda Gilman because it seems like they don't know what is wrong...

Thanks a million,

Unicron, sorry to hear that bro. Don't you have other dealerships in Houston that you can take your car to instead of the incompetent Gilman?

nvmys2k,

Yes, that seems to be the best solution. John Eagle seems to be on everyone's quality list in Houston. I will give them a buzz to find out if they can help me...

Thanks,

My friend tells me to try bleeding the clutch fluid for bubbles in the line...not a bad suggestion.

I'll do that on my 30,000 mile service this week. I'll let you guys know what happens.

Sev,

Thanks for the suggestion.

Here is the problem in better detail.

When the car is off, I can shift into gears fine...with or without depressing the clutch.

When the car is on, it's a different story. From a dead stop, I can't shift into 1st or reverse without breaking my wrist on the shift knob. It does seem that when I am rolling at 20 MPH, I can shift into 1st pretty good...it's just the dead stops that I have trouble getting into 1st or reverse.

So do you suggest having them change out the release bearing?

Could bubbles in the fluid for the hydrolic clutch sound like a cause also?

Thanks a million...

Is it possible the tranny is spinning down too fast (binding)? That's a standard problem with my other ride (BMW R1200C). Because of some o-rings in the tranny it spins down quickly.

Have you tried double-clutching (rev in Neutral before pushing into first)?
