to burn 2 qts of oil over a 4500 mile period? I just got my car 3 months ago and it has 107000 miles on it now. I changed my oil today and relized I was 2 qts low I hope its ok! I put moble 1 10w30 in it with a moble 1 oil filter. I'm going to start toping it off once a wee from now on though. My bmw didnt burn any oil at all.

Yes, this is normal. Peeludes similarly have this issue. Honda mech tells me the worst he's seen is 1qt/1K.

A thicker oil might help, but if you spend a lot of time in the higher rpms, you'll burn more.

I just recently burned through ~1.5qts of Mobil1 on a 3k mile road trip. Nothing unusual. Many have reported higher burn rates with Mobil1, try a different oil if it bothers you.

So I should be able to run any car 3 quarts low without any problems? That's great because it will save me money on my next oil change.

My AP1 burned a quart every 1000 miles since I got it new. I was always advised this is normal. The AP2 doesn't burn a drop.

yes, ap1's are indeed very good for the oil industry, we single handedly maintain the oil industries in saudi arabia, venezuela and kuwait.
