Is it normal for Maint Reqd light to flash 10 times when key turned on?

Yep, that's my question.
I noticed it right at 5995 miles, five mos old.
The light doesn't stay on when driving though.
I just had it into the shop to have the rear left strut replaced, as it was making a bad "knocking" sounds when I hit any bumps. The guy at the dealership said that sometimes the struts have a bad valve in them.
Thanks,
-Chris

Yes it is normal.
It is supose to remind you to change your oil more or less. If you change your own oil and do your own maintenance then you will have to do it yourself. The instructions are in your owners manual, it is a simple procedure.
I believe it will flash before your scheduled maintenance is due (so many miles before???) and then once it gets to the mileage that your maintenance is due it will remain lit until reset.
Sorry, I do not have the correct mileage for you, my manual is in my S2000.

The MAINT REQ light will flash at 6,000 miles and come on steady at 7,500 after being reset.
Please be aware that the procedure from the owners manual (p 49) does not work in my MY 2000 S 2000. The slightly modified procedure, as specified in our boards FAQ does work. https://www.s2ki.com/faqs/showfaq.php?threadid=17415
1. Insert the key into the ignition (do not turn it).
2. Press and hold the trip reset button
3. While holding the trip reset button down, turn the ignition to the 2nd position (dash lights come on).
4. Continue to hold the trip reset button until the MAINT REQ light goes out (this may take 10-15 seconds).
That's it!
