Octane in a Bottle...
I was at the local Autozone when I saw a bottle of something I would call "Octane in a Bottle". It wasn't actually called that, but I didn't notice the name. Evidently you poor it in your tank and boom, your running higher octane. I know some street guys that fill up with 104 octane when they go to the 1/4 mile track. I'm curious if anyone knows anything about "Octane in a Bottle", or something like it - and if it's ok to use, and if it's worth using - on occasion.

It does the job, that is, it will raise your octane. Whether or not this helps depends entirely on the car. I doubt with all the OBD controls and "hot retard" tendency the stock ECU has that it would make a difference in the S2k.
Something to keep in mind is that the additive or chemical that most of these use to increase the octane rating KILLS O2 sensors and cats. They will foul the plugs with a reddish-brown coating (as well as the O2). Do NOT run this stuff, or "most" of your average "cleaners" more often than every other or every third tank. I know Regane doesn't do any harm (both from theory and experimentation) and I hear that Techron is OK as well. Your average STP/Gumout product does nothing more, though, than foul plugs and sensors.

Octane is burn inhibitor. It actually reduces the petrols tendancy to burn.
It's purpose is to allow you to run higher compression, forced induction, or more advanced timing, with out detonation.
The primary ingredient is usually Tolulene.
Here's the duck's guts: If your engine isn't detonating with your current fuel, your ECU isn't retarding the ignition. So increasing octane won't do jack.
Wesmaster, as you are SC'd it is possible (although unlikely) that you could suffer detonation at high RPM/boost. An octane enhancer would help reduce this.

I have run Octane Booster for racing for several years now, they usually allow a 2 octane boost, ie 98 octane to 100. Usually they are Manganese based and would **** to catalyst I beleive.
Unless you worry about detonation in the head I would say Save your money
If you have lots buy Elf Race Fuel of 76 Race fuel which is very clean and rated at 100 octane +
But you Americans are not used to paying $3 per litre I think
