I'm confused with the part that you have to use a hammer and center punch to bend the corner gusset outward until it follows the contour of the convertible top frame.
I noticed that the creator of the post have an AP1, do I need to do the same on my 2007 and why is that we have to do this bend?
Another question:
Are these right on that position?
your soft top isn't folding up all the way, your soft top should hardly hit those bushings - which you look like you have removed.
likely your elastic is bad, push the mid bar back while your top is folding up, it should go down further.
the gusset punches.. I didn't do.
Thanks for the reply.
I just bought two new elastics so hopefully that will solve the fold.
Should it be some type of rubber around the metal bracket where is touching the cloth? The Hardtop came like that.
When I installed mine, It didn't feel that I need it to do the gusset punches either. That is why I was wondering if is only for the early models.
My soft top clears those rubber bumpers by about 1/2" when it's down and the hard top is on.
Mine as well. Its why I mentioned/indicated his soft top wasn't going down, probably from elastic straps likely gone bad. Hopefully his new straps fix the issue and new bumpers to keep from metal on soft top fabic contact
