Default OEM Lambda sensor

When i was NA i replaced my OEM cat. conv. with a test-pipe and as a result of this i got a CEL after a couple of miles. Now i am SC'ed with the vortech kit and i installed an UEGO AIR/FUEL Gauge (AEM) that came with its own BOSCH lambda sensor. I uninstalled the oem sensor from the test pipe and throwed it in the garage installing the new sensor that came with the gauge.

My mechanic told me that there isn't any problem throwing away the car's lambda sensor but i am not very sure about the accuracy of this advice. I would like any feedback on this.

On the other hand my cars run @ 14,5 - 14,9 A/F on idle and @ 11,8 - 12,5 at full throttle.

Thanks a lot.

If the car has a stock computer/PCM both 02 sensors are needed.

yes and no, the AEM can bypass the signal and the cel.

you don't need it but i dont see why he doesn't want to put it in, since you paid for the whole thing, might as well use it.
