Default OEM leather console installation

I have carpet and recently purchased an OEM leather console cover. The installation is different than the Rick's console installation, which I have done many times. It seems that you need to slide the console cover further back towards the radio and on the sides where the kick panels are. The kick panels wont budge. I looked for a screw or something to loosed them up and was SOL.
Has anyone ever done this? Any advice is appreciated.

Those "kick panels" you speak of, are they the things on each side of the center console that look a bit like speaker covers? If so, there is one screw for each of those and then a pressure fit tab (maybe two) that holds the cover in place. Carefully pull on it to remove that piece. Once the "speaker grill" is removed, you are left with just the trim edge and I think you can lift up on it a wee bit or shove something under it.

I just sold one from an '04, is it really leather?

It seemed to me that the used one I got off of e-Bay had been cut. There is no way you could get it out of the car whole w/o disassembling the whole radio area. Almost like the thing runs all the way up to the firewall during the initial build of the car. ??

Dave,
I removed the screw and took off the panel, but the side woudln't budge.... its once piece with the dash. I didn't see those pressure tabs. I'll look for those.
Thanks Guru!

I see what you're after. Those pressure tabs are on the covers. I'm afraid what's left after the covers are removed are a bit harder to deal with. Sorry I can't help you any more on this.
