Default Putting tranny in reverse during storage

I was leafing through my S2k's owner's manual and while looking through the part about storage I noticed they recommend putting the tranny in reverse during storage. I had never heard this before and I was wondering what the reason for it is. Anybody know? T.I.A.

Interesting...I must have missed this in the manual.

I'll make a GUESS...Reverse has the lowest gear ratio, and would resist the car rolling more than the other gears.

I'm going with this one, too.

wouldnt it be best to leave it neautral without the handbrake on, on a lift? (not taking the car all the way off the ground, but just about half way)

shouldn't matter if it is in gear on a lift, leave the hand brake off.

This could also be to stop the syncro rings from siezing to each other (gears with double sycros), the gear or the hubs. The dissimilar metals and any moisture or disulphide additives can contribute to this.

I would...park it level, brake off, trans in neutral, chock the wheels. Vehicle storage can turn into more of a debate than wrenching, a good search will drive you nuts
