oil burn
Thanks alot viper... Definitely helps my paranoia after you saying that,
I was already thinking of doing a compression test so I guess I'll get more or less paranoid after that, LoL..
Thanks again

And don't let the guys with '04s and '05s get to you with their stories of how their cars don't ever burn oil. Honda did something to the newer engines to help out with the oil situation. It could have been a lower redline, a change in internal construction, oil pressure, etc. I don't know for sure.
With that said, I just purchased a 2005 model and have been checking the oil at every fuel fill-up. The oil has stayed at full after 1000 miles. Looking good so far. Not exactly sure what honda did to solve the oil consumption problem.

uh oh......my coolant seems to be low and i seem to be burning a lot of oil........how much is a leak test? or a compression check? and how much is it to fix the problem?
There are many, many possibilities for what's going on with your car. Low coolant can be caused by a whole bunch of different things, some of which is easily and cheaply fixed, some of which can be at enormous cost. There are so many things that you could tell us but haven't.
"seem to be burning a lot of oil" -- this tells us very little. How much? Over what length of time? Over what distance? What kind of driving is the car subjected to?
A compression and leak down test takes less than an hour so this depends on how much your shop charges per hour. And it may still not tell you why you are low on coolant.
"and how much is it to fix the problem?" -- We don't even know if you have a problem. Pretty hard to tell you how much to fix it.
wow you reply VERY fast xviper. well so i went out and checked on the car. the dip stick was bairly wet on the bottom so i added a quart and 3/4ths about and now im at the second x. coolant wise, it is low but not too low? the hose inside still gets wet on the bottom. was too dark right now to see if its below the low level but it has been this low for a while. maybe 6 monts or so. hasnt gone any lower. can i just add regular water to bring it back up to the normal coolant level? and as for the oil burn, i use to vtec about 10 times a day. i dont race or anything but like to start fast and then cruise at the speed limit. so im assuming the excessive oil burn is my heavy foot so ill take it easy for a while and see if the level drops significantly again.
btw my motor has 45k on it and is a 2001

Re: the coolant. If it's been more or less at a consistent level over the last 6 months, you most likely have nothing to worry about. You probably had some air in the system that just got burped out. Don't put just water in it. If you profile is correct, you have an '01. This takes the Honda Type II coolant. Get a small jug of this and use that to top up the reservoir. It's pre-mixed. You just pour it in directly from the bottle. It should be no less than the lowest line when cold. Just fill it to 1/2 way between the low and high mark when the engine is stone cold. Keep track of it over the next few weeks.
It would appear as though you were about 2 qts low (or 1 qt below the "add" mark). You really need to check it more often (like at every gas fill). Keep it always in the X's. The next thing you need to determine is how many miles you can go for it to go down so many X's. All the X's represent 1 qt. If you use 1 qt. or less in a thousand miles, again, this is not unusual. Until you know this information, you should stop worrying.
