Default Oil Cap Fell off and I've looked everywhere!

I know this topic has been beaten to death on this forum, but I'm at the point where I've read every post I could find and tried every bit of advice, with no luck at all.

Here's my situation;
I was driving the car about 2 years ago now and I smelled oil and sure enough, the cap was gone. Luckily it was a very short drive and I had a spare cap so I tossed it on and forgot about it. Now, the infamous rattle has gone away and came back many times over the years since then(right around the dash, coming from below, pronounced when in accelerating in gear at lower RPMs) and I'm about ready to sell the car and I want this situation to be fixed before it goes to a new owner, it's driven me mad enough, I'm not the kind of guy to pass it onto the next...

I've taken a coat hangar under the car and checked everywhere, I am lucky to have pretty small arms and can get my hand on top of the transmission but nada, nothing. Even tried pulling the valve cover to get better access to the area. I currently have the car on a lift and I still can't find even a sign of the cap anywhere. What's next?

^That's where mine went lol.

Between the trans and firewall. Was almost IMPOSSIBLE to get the right angle to see it.

It rattled around in there for like 4 years (no joke). For all those 4 years, I knew in the back of my mind what it was. Then one day, I made a determined effort to search.

LOL this literally happened to me a few days ago, and one-time YEARS ago. Reasons I had a metal cap on my car because I've read the plastic is known to either crack or back out. Metal ones don't seem to have any of those issues.

This is my first time hearing that the oil cap is an issue...

Haha. It's happened to the best of us. Get lots of light, start looking for it in that general area!

That happened to a member on one of our group drives as he was adding oil, he was in a bind as there were no spare caps around. We lifted his car on the passenger side with a jack, and I used one of those long flexible pick up tools to push it loose from underneath as it got jammed in that crevice above. He was very lucky we got it out without much fuss.

Taking right turns really fast seems to help put it in the common spot

Then you can fish it out with those rods with the pop out claw.
