Default oil change by date regardless of miles?

I have an '87 Fiero that I only run once a week for about an hour for errands now that I have the S. My question is do I need to change the oil at three months even though the miles since the last change are only about three hundred? I intend to use this car throughout the Winter when roads are mush and salt, so I want it to be in good repair. Have always heard three months or three thousand, and wonder about this. Thanks.

With the short trips, I would change every 3 months, especially with conventional oil. With synthetic I would worry less though still be inclined to do it. The 3mo/3k inteval is a good idea, but conditions (temperature changes, trip length, driving habits) all factor in to how long oil will last and how much "protection" it provides. With a good oil and filter, and checking the oil level, 5k miles isn't too much.

I have almost 3000 miles on my S and it is about 6 months old. I was going to wait a little longer to change the break in oil, but now I am not sure what to do since winter is coming.

I've dated a lot of tough chicks but only one offered to change the oil (in my car).
