one can only assume the oil filter is fine for running 10k before changing?

Yes, the Honda PCX oil filter can easily go 10,000 miles. The service manual even recommends changing the oil filter every other oil change under "normal" conditions.

Oil filter can probably go 20-25k. IIRC Amsoil guarantees 25k, so Honda filter can't be too far behind.

Anyone tried Valvolines VR1 Racing 10w60?
I'm going to the Euromeet 2009, and lots of km on the German Autobahn. There I know it will be some "hard driving" over distances, and therefore need quality oil...

60..lol. Quality doesn't mean the right "weight", read the 10k other posts on this subject.

I think he knows that, I believe he meant he will be driving the S full tilt on the autobahn for extended periods inducing much engine heat and the 60W would hold up to it. I don't know if you need to go that heavy, maybe if you were boosting because you would be inducing even more heat into it.

Have fun and stay safe...but FAST!!!

What a helpful reply, INTJ... It was a reason for the question. The S will be pushed hard over longer periods through Germany, to try to get to Italy quick. Then I want an oil that keeps up with the pace. Of course I know that it should be 10w30, and normaly I use Castrol from my Honda-dealer. Simple question, but maybe the 60 is overkill...

*the monthly 30k announcement* My UOAs show that my oil is still healthy, and I could actually go longer if I wanted to.
But you add make up oil if I recall correctly. Most oils will shear down within 10k miles, that's well documented
