Based on what?
Didn't you read my thread? Don't you read your owner's manual? Are you just trying to pick an argument? Honda recommends filter changes every other oil change. Under normal operating conditions, that comes to 15,000 miles.

[QUOTE]But you add make up oil if I recall correctly.

I switched to synthetic and I now use the"" service minder" as the interval for change. This is Honda's rec for regular motor oil so with the synthetic it is going to be overkill.

I live in GA where it gets quite hot in the summer and I still only run a 10w40, and I am turbo'ed. I change it about every 4-5k because I can sometimes smell gas in the oil as it will run rich at the top end of the rpm zone and I don't want to go "playing around" on the street with gas ridden oil and end up with something bad happening at 20psi and 9k rpms.

You should try M1 TDT 5W40 in your turbo'ed.

3000 miles mobil 1 and oem oil filter. It is cheap and piece of mind....
I agree! I don't have time or care to send my oil off to be analyzed just to determine my interval. Although, if I were curious or trying to troubleshoot an issue I may have my oil analyzed. Unless there is something wrong with your engine or you drive your car like you stole every day then changing the oil and filter every 3k-5k should be well within reason, given you use the proper oil weight and oem filter. Pretty much any name brand synthetic should do. I wouldn't bother with oil additives either.

On another note, I don't seem to be burning oil like other S2k members complain about... I'm not sure why they are, maybe it was an AP1 issues? All I know is it would bug the hell out of me if I was burning oil. My RX7 burned oil and even though everyone said it was normal I was always annoyed by it...

mobil 1 10w 30 every 3k.... and my ap1 burns about a quart through this time... my ap1 only has 16k on it so motor is fresh dont get me wrong.. but even when i change my oile in 3k its still black as night and only drains out 4 quarts... its a nice piece of mind always havin fresh oil.. rather spend 40 bucks to change my oil than buy a new engine
