I extract the oil on my second car, the VW golf, since 10 Years. Zero Problems. Why not on the S2000 to?
Saying this, you dont need to jack up the S2000 for a oil change, as others mentioned. You could reach the Oil filter and the drain plug from above, you only need a long and deep socket or a short extension for the oil drain plug.
Even better, simply remove the Airbox. Done in 5 Minutes and you have really great acces to the Oil filter and the drain plug from above and enough room for the wrenches.
Yup. Removing the airbox makes it even easier to reach both areas. Torque wrench and all.

That is why I like those aluminum chafing pans. They slide under without doing any lifting at all. Plus, when you pour the oil into a container for recycling (have to do it twice to not overflow the pan-which is why the larger pan is there to prevent screw ups) you just toss the used pan into a bag ( I use a dog food bag) and toss it in the trash. No clean up required.
"Standard 20 pound" aluminum roasting pan holds about 8.5 quarts of oil -- filled to the brim! -- so is useful for the oil our engines hold. Two problems I have are (1) the oil is hot and (2) the pan is extremely flexible. Lots of care is necessary. I think Walmart sells these in a 2-pack ($3.72), just use them nested for added stiffness. Next trick is getting the used oil into a suitable container for recycling.
My old inboard engine oil change pump and tank solves those problems but the darn thing is "yacht-expensive" ($155) so I can't in good conscience recommend spending this kind of money. But if you can find one it works wonderfully.

I bought this oil recycling container. Holds maybe 10 or 12 quarts. Has huge opening with screw on lid. So pouring oil from chafing pan should be doable without spills.
