Default Oil Consumption

Is it normal that my S2k (after 16.000 miles) use 1 quart of engine oil every 4.500/5.000 miles? (Castrol RS)

I've heard up to 1 quart every 1000 miles. Keep an eye on your OIL if the play in the VTEC ZONE!

Unfortunately, my S2K has had oil consumption about that rate.

It was not due to VTEC all the time. I think my S2K was initially prone to oil consumption and needed a good breakin period. I changed to synthetic too soon at 600 mi and the oil consumption went to that level subsequently. I went back to nonsynthetic and did various things to help seat the rings and the oil consumption has dropped significantly.

PS: Regarding your signature, there was a saying in residency program that "You can't shine s#!t with Shinola"!
