Default Oil consumption

Hi all,

I own a S2000 from '00. I bought it with 29.000 miles from the first owner. The engine was repaired when it had 34.000 miles. The reason was that it ran on 3 cilinders. My dealership said it could be possible that I've tanked bad quality petrol. The reparation was a sort of boltrevision, they cleaned the engine and replaced the piston rings with new ones.

After that, my car consumped all the oil. That was in a period of 3.100 miles (my car had 40.000 miles on it when my dealer added oil, and it was broken at 43.100 miles). I've not checked the oil in that period, stupid me
My dealer never said it uses that much of oil...

So my engine is broken and I have to pay a bill from about 5.000 dollar (nearly a complete engine) to repair the damn thing.

My question is, is it normal that it consumes that much oil in a short period? What is an acceptable usage for an S2000?
The dealership said it's my fault because i've had to check the oil, and it is normal for such a high performance car to use such a lot oil.

Thanks in advance!
greetings,

p.s. i've used the search but I found more topics about oil usage in the break-in period....
p.s2. sorry for my bad english

Yes, the years 2000 to 2003 engines typically can use quite a bit of oil - as much as 1L per 1000 miles is still considered "normal". It clearly states in the owner's manual that it is the owners responsibility to check oil at EVERY gas tank fill. Some but not all cars will eventually stop using oil after 20K to 30K miles.
