search shows a lot of discussions about oil escaping through AP1 pcv valve - so kreftwerk or stronger pcvs are suggested.

try do an oil reading when your engine is cold. Before your first drive of the day, check the dipstick. I found it to be ALOT easier to read

Here in Calif my car uses 10/30 wt oil, not synthetic. i have 49,000 miles adn have never used oil .

in past if i have overfilled a fraction of a quart it seems to burn off quickly then normalizes my oil level...i have not over filled this car but i have other cars by a fraction of a quart before.

You're well past the break-in @ 50k km

Without knowing the brand / type of 5W-40 it's too early to call it HDEO (Heavy Duty Engine Oil) and it's too early to call it synthetic as well.

Even in a hot climate you don't really need a 40 weight, a true syn xxW-30 will do fine, you'll get more oil flow through the engine at higer revs.

You're over-analyzing your oil consumption
