I've changed my engine oil at 6months/3000 miles in my 1999 S with 69000 miles. I'm using Shell Helix 5w30. During this time I checked the oil level (very)regularly but did not have to top up once. I think that is mainly due to the traffic/roads here in the UK. Using the VTEC takes some planning, so it doesn't happen too often on each trip.
