Default Oil Filter Bosch d3312

Hey guys, doing an oil change soon and my dad just bought an oil filter for me. He got the Bosch d3312. Will this work perfectly fine for my AP1 with Mobil 1 full synthetic oil? Or should I just return it and get the Oem honda filter?

That's a highly rated and expensive filter that your dad bought for you. I've also heard that it has similar construction to the Purolator Pure One filters with greater filtering capacity. Odds are that it will work fine for you. But most of us prefer to stay with the OEM Honda PCX 004 oil filter. Let us know if you decide to use it and how it works.

I can't say anything specific about that particular filter, but my general thinking is why worry about the devil you don't know. It is quite possible there may be a couple filters out there that outperform the oem filter, then there may be more filters that perform worse. We definitely know the oem filter works well with our engine, so it is one less thing to worry about.

I'm sticking with this filter, too lazy to go return it haha. I'll see what happens after a few hundred miles or so.

As long as the threads match up and the bypass valve rating is the same ... it will be OK for a daily driver. If you are racing the car (a half hour or more at full throttle), differences in flow through the filter design and media may come into play.

Check the threads and PSI rating of the bypass valve on Bosch's site or contacting them directly.

You better tell him what the Honda ratings are before he calls Bosch then.

Bosch says its for the "S" and I like the heavy duty design. There are a lot of good(better than stock) filters out there. I use a filter that is over twice as big as the Honda filter so don't be like sheep, go and use what meets your's and your cars needs.

I would still like to know what oil filter that the filter manufacture says is for the "S" and will "destroy the engine" ? Why, because I'll use it to get a new engine.

^^lol I would never do that to my S (:

The filter seems to be doing well, hasn't moved at all after a day of constant vtec and wot runs. Everything feels better after the synthetic oil change, might be a placebo effect but idk. As long as I think it's better. I'll see if the filter can hold up until my next oil change.

I run either the Wix 51334 or the Amsoil Ea15k20 oil filters on my 03S.

Both have a good balance of filtration & flow.

Just bought a 6 pack of OEM filters so I'll be staying with OEM from now on.
