Change the filter w/o changeing the oil and see if this makes any difference. You might also change the brand of the filter out of curiousity. I'm suggesting this as only an experiment and not something you should depend on. If it did clear up, maybe you have some bad filters.??? Darker yes but black? never heard of this problem before.
One question; Are you sure your not running oil meant for diesel engines?
I'm running a Ryco filter.

No I'm not using oil for diesel engines... lol.

I serviced the car yesterday so I'll see how it goes now.
And what's wrong with OEM filter?

Are you talking about the oil filter or the air filter?

The oil filter needs to be changed with every service.

Air filter. The oil filter is good for 2 oil changes actually according to Honda.

Oh I'm running a K&N FIPK and I keep it well maintained. I clean it with every service even though it isn't really necessary. So I doubt that it could be the problem but thanks for the heads up.
I have my stock air box and air filter still but it is such a clusterf@#k of unnecessary hoses and cables, the K&N FIPK is a lot neater.

As for the oil filter, I still prefer to change it with every oil change, they are relatively inexpensive anyway.

I agree with you on both accounts. I just know that the tube inside the fipk for me always has a light layer of dust whereas every oem filter on a honda I have checked had nothing. Fwiw.

DO NOT FLUSH. Trust me on this.
Doesn't anybody listen to the expert when he posts something? There's nothing to fix. Some of you people will have the OP doing engine flushes, making him think his engine's all sludged up, changing oil before its time. Pretty soon, somebody will have him convinced he needs a new engine. On the other hand, sometimes it helps if the person asking the question has a bit of a clue about car stuff. Without one, any answer will sound just as good. Billman, I don't know how you do it. You must have a constant headache from having to shake it so much.

Don't judge your oil based on color. Send a sample to Blackstone Labs and get it analyzed. Read their UOA report. Close the thread.

I can see your concern but I am not that naive.

I also notice that my engine doesn't run as smoothly when the oil is black, if anything it's rather rough.
