oil leak from the back

Default oil leak from the back

i did a mountain run and i hit a dip real bad well thats what my friend said when he saw sparks coming out the back, but anyways. its leaking some type of oil in the back but i cant see where its leaking. all i know is that its leaking on to my resonator then to the floor. any ideas?

either the rear diff casing or you tore a cv boot, but i there was sparks might have cracked the diff casing, is the oil seem very thick?

if its on your resonator, it could be your prop shaft boot leaking grease.

if its the diff yes if its the cv boot no take it to a shop or lift it up your self and find out exactly where its comming from, guessing is not going to fix it

but if it is the diff, shouldnt it be a reddish oil?

Resonator is in front of the diff guys, so its obviously not that. Your first obvious check should be the oil pan and transmission casing in case you managed to hit those which can happen on a crowned road. If you have a lift available throw it up on one and get the underside all cleaned off, if you cant see if then have it running with it jacked up and see if that forces the leak. You can at least narrow it down by seeing what fluid your low on if its leaking that much.

Mine hit a patch of rough road up here in Whistler British Columbia Canada. When I arrived Home I noticed a small leak/drip. It was a bushing around the rear diff. My honda guy said it was not that bad and I could hold off for a bit as long as I didn't drive it hard.
