Default Oil Pan

How durable are our oil pans? I was changing the oil today and was stupid in loosening the drain bolt. Instead of turning it to remove the bolt, I was tightening it. Well, I don't think I've stripped it yet but just curious to know if I had done any damage. I would say, I must have tightened the bolt an additional 15 to 20 degrees. Did I do any damage? I looked at the threads and they look ok by the way.... Thanks for any info.

not 2 durable in the 'over-tightening' department , but if ur plug torqued back down to around 30ft.-lbs. & didn't keep spinning, u should be ok

edit: if u don't have a tq. wrench, 30 lbs. is not as tight as you may think, so be careful

our oil pans are aluminum and the drain bolt is steel. the pan will strip before the bolt strips. as stated above, if you can tighten the bolt to 29-30 ft lbs then you're good to go.
