Default Oil pressure and vtec

to start I have a 2003 with an f22. Got it as a project and am slowly making progress

been having problems with vtec, it just doesn’t have any ass behind it in 1st and 2nd gear then in 3rd you hear vtec actuate but it starts hesitating and gets kinda jumpy.

So so I purchased and installed an oil pressure gauge. Warmed the car up in the driveway
cold start was 75-80 psi
fully warmed up 20-25 psi
warm 3000k rpms 80-85 psi

so took the car down the road and depending on rpm run between 35-85 rpms. But as soon as I gave it WOT pressure would hit 95psi
vtec in 1st and 2nd were around 90-95 psi
3rd was between 90-100psi
got home and let her idle for a little bit and pressure dropped to 16-20 psi

i have been searching google and forums alike for answers but can’t find any relatable information. I just need ideas on where to start with diagnostics, part replacement or old shop tricks.

Oil pressure seems fine, especially at higher rpm. Could be a bad vtec solenoid, if you want to bump the pressure just to see if it helps, run a bit thicker oil. Ive run Rotella 15w40 during break in and oil pressure is usually 15psi higher across the board.
