Default Vtec engagement problem

I'm having the following problem under "spirited" acceleration: In first gear, with the engine at preferable operating temperature, vtec will engage at approximately 6,300 rpm instead of the usual 6,000. In second and third gear, Vtec engages at about 6,200 rpm and then disengages briefly and engages again at about 7,000 rpm.... Since Vtec is oil pressure related, could it be that the oil level is too low? (Checked, and it is "somewhat" low, will replace oil today) Or could it be that the Vtec solenoid needs to be cleaned? Please advise

I would check the solenoid and see if it needs to be cleaned

i noticed that if the oil isnt spot on with the level vtec wont kick as hard or it ill hesitate.

Always check at every fill up and top off untill around the three X's on the dip stick.

It would be a very rare case if the VTEC valve needed cleaning.

I checked, and it was the oil level, thanks man!

When I bought the oil filter at Honda today, the salesman said that the ECU would throw a CEL for the solenoid and that it would in fact be really rare...

I'm surprised checking the oil level wasn't the first thing you did.
