Oil on spark plug, not where you think....is this a problem?
No, they were dry. It appears the previous owner may have put a little oil on the plugs. Why, I have no idea. It apprears to me the burn pattern and color are right on so I really am not concerned at this point. New plugs in runs like a champ again.

My running theory is this: The gentleman I purchased the car from was a 65 year old guy who was into muscle cars but purchased this one for his wife. My guess is when he swapped out the plugs he put a coat of oil on them. I've seen my Dad and his buddies do the same thing on their old muscle cars, I'm not to sure why and never thought to ask. Maybe some thing to do with old iron heads and not wanting the plugs to corrode in the hole, a make shift anti-seize if you will. I do not want to go to 24 ft lbs. especially with residual oil in the hole as I'm afraid to over tighten them. I plugged the motor (pun intended) and will pull them back out after a couple of weeks to inspect. I am not super concerned about this whole thing and there are no other signs of anything being wrong or the car using oil. Thank you for the feedback though I've been learning a lot on the site and owning this car is a dream come true for me. I enjoy hearing the opinions of others on the topics.
