Default Ok, SLIGHT vafc problem.

last night my friend Jimmy installed my VAFC, we sodered (sp) all the connections, cleared out the settings that the previous owner had installed, set all the throttle positions, sensors, etc etc and saved them.

then we went to start the car, it fires up, then just dies out. No CEL or anything, but it wont stay started. so then we unhook the vafc to see if the car will start, BAM! fires up perfectly and still runs like a champ.

we pulled the cover back to re-check the connections and all of the connections were fine, nothing had slipped out.

what could the problem be? are there some (safe) settings i could use untill UL tunes it next week at the Spugen BBQ?

anyone experienced this before with the vafc?

any help would be tremendously appreciated.

Well something's wrong (I guess you already knew that).

If you set up the V-AFC with no values in the maps and VTEC set to 6000 in 5800 down then it is basically doing nothing.

Check to make sure the MAP connections are around the right way. Get them mixed up and you can expect a problem like this.

Make sure the sensor type is 06 06.

If the car won't even idle, then the problem has nothing to do with TPS IN, RPM IN, or VTEC OUT. It can only be a bad unit, or a bad connection for power, ground, MAP IN, or MAP OUT. I'm not sure if VTM could be an issue, or not. The VAFC settings wouldn't have any effect on its ability to idle.

if it doesn't even idle....then I would say most definately the 4 vs 6 cyl setting.
