Default Oops...

So I was just browsing around s2Ki and read that pushing the car too much when not adequately warmed up is a bad thing. Anyway, I remember when I first got the car, I would start pushing it (5K and up towards VTEC range) after I got "3 bars" as recommended by members. Little did I know they were referring to the AP1's. LOL. Question is, have I done any damage to my car? What signs of issues should I look for if I did? I don't do it now of course but am I worrying too much? Thanks folks.

FWIW, the car seems to be doing ok presently and it doesn't even burn oil at all. I do notice that the idle is not as smooth as something say like a TSX... but I think it's always been this way.

PS. I've also read something about rev-limiter when cold? Is that true? I've never experienced it....

You will know the cold rev-limiter when you hit it...the car won't rev above 6k if it is too cold.

It's always best to take it easy until you are up to normal temps, but it's not going to seriously damage the car to rev it to where the limiter kicks in.

You probably didn't do anything. If there's nothing wrong, dont worry about it.

The cold limiter is at 7k RPM. VTEC will not engage and the car will just shut down at 7k.

the idle wont be as smooth as a TSX. The TSX is an entry level luxury car. The TSX's engine will also idle smoother for other reasons. Softer motor mounts, balance shafts, variable cam timing, smaller cams, etc.

I dont think S2000s are known for their smooth idle anyway. Dont worry about it. You'd be surprised how much it takes to actually break a car.
