Over rev - Ticking sound from 2-3k
After dropping from 6th to 4th in an effort to avoid an accident on the freeway today, I mechanically over revved my engine
I now have a slight ticking sound from about 2k rpm to 3k rpm. Happens when warned up.
Bent valve?
Valve retainer cracked?
Tct?
Searched but came up short.
Any advice is appreciated.
I don't have a video yet

Yeah there's no way 75 is an overrev in 4th...maybe you meant to hit 4th but hit 2nd?
My guess is that it seemed like an overrev just because in an emergency you probably dumped the clutch and the engine rpm shot up violently.
I bet the ticking is the TCT just not sure it has anything to do with you dropping from 6th to 4th....maybe a coincidence?

yeah 4th would be fine. 2nd on the other hand.. if you're going 75 in 2nd.. you're looking at 10000k rpm or more. Bent valve(s) would be my guess. AND cracked retainers if you have an AP1 the chances are higher. Which means I would not drive the car until you do two things. 1) Pull the valve cover (Takes like 5 mins) and inspect the intake side valve retainers. If they're not sunken in they're good. 2) Do a compression test. Use a good gauge (I used one from Oriellys and it gave me bad results). And do a leakdown test. Leakdown test will show you where the problem is.
