New to these motors. I just sold my Vette and bought a 63,000 mile 2002. couple questions.
1.) What's a TCT
2.) What's the recommended millage for a valve adjustment?
3.) Do these motors run timing belts or chains?
Also previous owner installed a cat delete test pipe. Does this gain much performance? What is the best performance exhaust for daily driving without being any louder then what it is with test pipe and stock mufflers.
He also gave me 6 quarts of Castrol 5w-30. I am going to change oil and spark plugs. Suggestions on oil viscosity/brand and plugs.
Thanks!

1)Timing chain tensioner
2)I want to say Honda says 90k miles, but I do mine every 10-15k, it is easy
3)timing chain
Remove the test pipe, add a high flow cat, and do a U.K. mod to the exhaust is my opinion (search U.K. Mod)
Oil that Castrol is perfect, plugs OEM NKG

Valve adjustment is much easier than on a Vette, half the cylinders and it's done cold. I replace the valve cover gasket every 2 years and that's when I do a valve adjustment. Although after I did the adjustment I've only had to check them since, they stay right where I left them.

Timing chain tensioner is a known wear-out part on the car. There must be 100 threads on this. OEM can be repaired but a replacement is prudent.
Page 152 starts the maintenance section of the 2002 owner's manual. It's on-line if you didn't get one with the car. Read it. Going with the "Severe" service schedule won't hurt. Note some services like coolant and brake/clutch fluid are time, not mileage based. Valve clearance tightens with wear and the 2006 cars (my car) are notorious for tight valves which will eventually burn if not set right. Earlier cars are less prone to this problem. Simple but tedious process. The engine turns over manually easier if the plugs are out. While they were out I put in new ones.
Complete fluid change will make you feel better. Use the correct Honda S2000 oil filter and crush washers for the engine, gearbox, and differential drain plugs. OEM plugs are excellent and listed in the manual.
Test pipe or high flow cat will add some power as will an induction system like the K&N FIPK or AEM intakes. A test pipe is not only irresponsible but also stinks (literally). The system that produced 221bhp at the rear wheels on my car consists of the FIPK, 63mm Berk high flow cat, and Tanabe Medalion Touring dual exhaust. The car is Gernby FlashPro tuned with VTEC engagement at 3600rpm which will be more difficult on a non-DBW car.
All of the above can be done in your garage or driveway with minimum tools.

Got it. I will do all this winter. The biggest expense will be wheels and tires. They have some PeP Boys AP2 looking wheels and junk tires on it. I would like some nice 17" wheels in +1 width. I don't want to modify the fenders or suspension. What's a good and reasonably priced free flowing cat that I can replace my test pipe with? I thought Vette parts were expensive, I can't believe the pricing on some of the aftermarket parts for these cars, WTF 4 less cylinders and twice as expressive to build that's supply and demand for you.
