P1519 ECU Code
My check engine light has been coming on since I bought the car. One thing after another. The check engine light came on again. Instead of going to the dealership, I decided to get a scanner and troubleshoot it myself. The code I get is an Evaporator Core code (P1519). I have had this code before. The core was dismantled by Honda, but they couldn't find anything. What would cause this code? I want to try the easy fixes first before I dismatle the core again. Don't look forward to dismatling since it requires a discharge.

I think you need to give the dealer three chances to fix the problem before requesting compensation (new car) under the lemon law. Remember different states have different requirements. Just document the situation thoroughly.
If that doesn't work let me know and I can give you the address of people to write to. I had the front bumper peeling and Honda finally fixed it! But I had to write to Japan, local Honda and American Honda are A$$HOLES!

Good thought, but Cali has the following restrictions:
- The problem has to occur in the first year.
- The same problem has to be unfixable a total of three times.
I found out the hard way on my Z28. 3 years without a problem. Then wham, 12 trips to the dealership for the same problem with a grand total of 16 trips. No legal recourse except to cause a scene in the dealership. Honda has treated me better than that so far. Hope it continues.

California should institute another law--if you go to any dealer 3 times in a row willing to buy at MSRP and they don't sell you a car, you get one for free (or at least at MSRP).
I've had a hell of a time getting an S2K in CA--nobody wanted my money. Had to order mine out of MA.

Alright, now it is getting worse. The car idles rough and at about 1500RPM. It smells rich. I have had this problem before I installed a DC Sports header, so it is not related to the header. I think the header is making things worse. It would happen about once every 50 miles. Now I as soon as I reset the ECU, the code comes right back. The rough idle make driving difficult and it sucks gas. Should I reset the ECU by pulling the battery? Has anyone else had problems running rich after installing a new header.
PS: I have 50 highway miles on the header. I torqued the bolts to factory specs and rechecked the torque. The black heat shield is not installed per DC Sports direction.

The OBD II on board diagnostics system on the S2000 has two sets of codes. The first set of codes is for Emision related defects (i.e. federal mandated codes and system, known as MIL codes...similar to pre 1996 OBD I systems). The second set are make and or vehicle specific. Make sure your scan tool and or software is reading the MIL codes. There is no relation between the evaporator core and engine performance. The evaporator core is part of the air conditioning system and is controlled in an unrelated leg of the ECU. Most likely you insalled a new head unit or stereo speakers and disturbed the "P" connector to the power transistor or evaporator sensor. Remove the passenger dashboard lower cover to access the two wire harnesses. The panel is held in by six clips....wedge a tape covered screwdriver in and pull it straight out. This happens a lot when people put in new head units. Hopefully you can get a MIL code if you alter your scanner or software which will lead you to the engine stumble. Are you using a Honda Scan tool or some other method (i.e. Laptop computer)? If you are using the software method you need to make sure you have downloaded both sets of codes. They are available from: http://www.obd-2.com/

My guess is that it has to do with the header installation. Check for damage or poor connection to the O2 sensors. (I agree that the code you have makes no sense).
