Default To patch or to plug?!?!?!?!?!

I have always plugged any tire whenever I've gotten a nail in it. However this is the first time I have gotten a nail on the S2000. What are your recommendations? Plug or patch? And why?

I plugged only and it held up fine after many hard runs.

I had a rear tire plugged two days before a track event. Held up (and is still holding up) just fine...

I carry a plug kit because you can do that with the tire on the wheel, and at track events. However, patching is better so given the choice I'd have it patched over plugged.

The proper way to do it is to remove the tire and use a patch. Seals from the inside out. Note that you need to rebalance. This is the most expensive way but it's the best. Plugs are required in locations such as the edge of the tread where the patch would have to span both the tread area as well as the sidewall.

I just had to replace a tire that had a plug in the inside edge of the tread. Started leaking, perhaps due to the stretching of the cords due to 1) the puncture, 2) the plug insertion and 3) cornering forces. A patch would never have leaked.
